Winter in Utah
Want to know the coolest thing about this video? I didn’t have to drive more than 30 minutes from my home to capture any part of it. I ❤ UTAH.
But that doesn’t mean this was an easy video to create! It was actually one of the hardest projects I’ve done in a long time.
While making this video, I crashed my car due to black ice (and got a whiplash in the process), got my car stuck in the snow twice, crashed my drone twice due to sub-freezing temperatures and wind chill (though I miraculously recovered it both times, once with the help of my amazing friend Doug May), slipped and fell down a small mud hill, covering my camera, lens, gimbal, and face in mud, and fell in the snow countless times. Oh yeah, and I got the flu! If there’s any project that I should have been capturing behind the scenes for, it’s this one.
I don’t say any of that to complain, but rather to express how SPECIAL this video is to me. It means even more because of all the setbacks, injuries, damage to equipment, and discomfort from the cold. I’m so lucky to get to do what I love for work, and this video makes that even more meaningful.
This video was filmed throughout American Fork Canyon and Provo Canyon, Utah, in 8K FUHD 60 fps with the RED Helium 8K camera, with 8K timelapses on the Sony A7R2 and a few 4K aerial clips included courtesy of the DJI Mavic 2 Pro.
